What is Sodium Bicarbonate?

Bicarbonate (NaHCO3), also known as sodium hydrogen carbonate, sodium hydrogen carbonate, bicarbonate of soda or vichy salt, is a white crystalline solid compound obtained from a naturally occurring mineral called natron, which contains large amounts of sodium bicarbonate.

Sodium bicarbonate is used as an antacid, i.e. as an element that reduces excess acidity in certain parts of the human body. Thus, it acts by neutralising the excess acid that accumulates in the stomach.

How to use/recommended use

• Greasing agent for pastries and confectionery: dosage according to recipe
.
• Antacid: dissolve 7 g in 250 ml of water
.
• For washing fruit and vegetables: mix one tablespoon in 1L of water and leave the fruit/vegetable to soak for 10 minutes
.
• To prevent limescale in washing machine: one wash without clothes and cold water with 4 tablespoons of baking soda. Can be repeated every month.
• To remove unpleasant odours.
• To eliminate bad smells: put 1 tablespoon in a small saucer in the fridge; add 1 tablespoon in the dishwasher after washing.
