Characteristics

• The ume variety of plum is picked unripe and preserved in salt and shiso leaves for a long period of time. It is the shiso leaves that give the food its characteristic red colour.
• Ideal for use in cooking with vegetables and cereals.

Ingredients

Japanese plums (ume plums) (79%), sea salt, shiso leaves (Perilla frutescens).

• Allergens: May contain traces of gluten and soya.

How to use

• To make sauces: Blend until puréed.
• To make a drink: Place a pitted Umeboshi plum and a tablespoon of Shoyu in a cup and add a cup of hot Kukicha.
