Pachira aquatica

DESCRIPTION

. Pachira aquatica is a tree plant of the Bombaceae family. Pachira, is highly prized for the shape of its leaves and trunk. They are native to South America in humid tropical areas near rivers and freshwater wetlands from Mexico to Brazil. Also called Guyana Chestnut, bottle tree, money tree. Scientific name: Pachira aquatica.

. Curiosities: This plant eliminates toxins that gradually accumulate in indoor environments. It is said that having a Pachira at home attracts health and prosperity.

CAREFUL

Temperature

. Temperature: temperate temperatures between 18-30 °C and high humidity. It is recommended to avoid placing them in areas with cold draughts.

Light

. Light: can be used as a houseplant in areas with abundant indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause the leaves to burn. It can also be placed outdoors in semi-shaded areas.

. Watering: despite its name being "aquatic" and living in nature in very humid areas, as a houseplant, watering should be moderate. It is advisable to allow the substrate to dry out a little between waterings.

. Manure: Apply a dose of ideal fertiliser for green plants / houseplants diluted in the irrigation water once every 2-3 weeks during spring-summer.

. Transplanting: In spring or early summer every two years or when its size exceeds that of the pot. A light, well-drained substrate is recommended.

NOTES

. Pets: It is pet friendly, not considered toxic

Maximum height: Can grow up to 5 metres tall indoors
